I love games that feature events, especially when the events provide players with free loot they would otherwise have to spend their money on in the cash shop.

Although I’m a big fan of the Halloween Hallowed Nights event, because of the access in provides players to unique crafting recipes, I’m a much bigger fan of Winter’s Feast simply because of the amount of goodies it provides players.

  • Prices, history graph and more for the Game 'Don't Starve Together' (JP region).
  • Belongings are a type of Curio in Don't Starve Together that allow the players to apply cosmetic Skins to certain Items, Structures and Followers such as Critters. The skins can be applied at the time of Crafting and changed afterward by using a Clean Sweeper. This is also the only way to apply skins to items that cannot be crafted, such as the Tam o' Shanter. They are stored in the Curio.

Winter’s Feast is an annual event that takes place every year during the Holiday Season, spanning from December until January, featuring many Holiday-themed skin, Winter Foods, Winter Ornaments and craftable items such as Winter’s Feast Trees, Festive Tree Planters, Gifts and Gift Wraps.

During the event, players are commonly awarded a new skin, previous ones include:

Don't Starve Together: Forge Weapons Chest. Don't Starve Together: Starter Pack 2019. Don't Starve Together: Hallowed Nights Belongings Chest.

2020: Unannounced

“FREE” SKINS FOR EVERYONE

When starting a new world during the Winter’s Feast event, players may notice that they access to a number of skins they did not previously own.

While exciting, it’s important to note that once the Winter’s Feast event has concluded, players will no longer have access to these special Holiday-themed skins and will either have to make an in-game purchase to use them going forward or will have to obtain them in other means.

To my knowledge, players can remain in their chosen Holiday-themed skin beyond the event if they do not change skins, though I will confirm if this is still true at the end of the 2020 Winter’s Feast event.

If players have not chosen a Holiday-themed skin before creating their world or didn’t realize that there were any special skins available to them, they can use a Wardrobe during the Winter’s Feast event in order to select one of the available skins.

Similarly, players will be able to make these changes up until the end of the event, though players cannot “dupe the system” by making a clothing set on the last day in hopes of switching back into the skin after the event is concluded.

WINTER’S FOODS

Similar to Halloween Candy, Winter Foods are an exclusive food item that appear during the Winter’s Feast event.

Winter Foods have a 20% chance to be dropped when killing any mobs, including animals and monsters.

Winter Foods have an indefinite expiry, being one of the only foods, similar to Halloween Candy, that players can rely on all year around.

Players will receive a maximum of 2 Health, 2 Sanity and 3 Hunger from Winter Foods, which may not seem like much, though being that players can easily hold stacks of 40 of each Winter Food, players can binge on each type regularly to keep their stats up.

It should be noted that players will be unable to eat the Eternal Fruitcake, being one of the most annoying resources players can collect through Winter’s Feast as many end up being left on the floor, though players can essentially use Eternal Fruitcake to feed their Pigs to get Manure.

Other than using Winter Foods to snack on, players will be able to decorate their Winter’s Feast Trees with:

Gingerbread Cookies

Sugar Cookies

Candy Canes

Eternal Fruitcakes

Chocolate Log Cakes

It should be noted that Wigfrid will not eat Veggies, even if they are Winter Foods, making her consumption of these foods more limited.

Players should use the foods she won’t eat for Pigs or other mobs they want to friend.

GIFTS & GIFT WRAP

For players who are not interested in killing the Bee Queen in order to obtain the Blueprint for Bundling Wrap, you can rejoice in knowing that you will have an equivalent with Gift Wrap during Winter’s Feast.

Gift Wrap is always obtainable for players during Winter’s Feast and can be crafted using 1 Papyrus and 1 Petals, and will be able to wrap a total of 4 item stacks which will not spoil over time as they regularly would inside of your inventory.

It should be noted that while almost all items can be wrapped in Gift Wrap, players will not be able to place certain essential items in there such as Chester’s Eye Bone, Star-Sky, the Celestial Orb or the Stag Antler. Though, why would you put any of those in Gift Wrap anyways?

Don't Starve Together Spear

Upon wrapping up Gift Wrap, players will receive Gifts, which can be opened at a later time, though unlike Bundling Wrap players will not receive any of the resources it took to make the Gift Wrap back.

Players will also receive Gifts that already have items in them after defeating Klaus as his regular Bundled Supplies will receive a cosmetic change during Winter’s Feast.

Players will also receive 6 Gifts instead of 4 Bundled Supplies, making defeating Klaus during Winter’s Feast much more appealing to players.

If you already have the Blueprint for Bundling Wrap I would recommend sticking to them, though I won’t deny how cute Gifts are.

WINTER’S FEAST TREE & FESTIVE TREE PLANTER

One of the cutest additions to Don’t Starve Together during the Winter’s Feast is the Winter’s Feast Tree, heavily resembling a traditional Christmas Tree.

To obtain a Winter’s Feast Tree players must first craft a Festive Tree Planter, which needs 2 Manure and 1 Board to craft.

While players can leave a Festive Tree Planter empty, players will want to place a Pine Cone, Birchnut or Twiggy Tree Cone into their Festive Tree Planter in order to start the process of growing a Winter’s Feast Tree.

If players are unhappy with where they placed their Festive Tree Planter they can use a Hammer (6 Cut Grass, 3 Rocks and 3 Twigs) to destroy it as long as the Festive Tree Planter is empty or only has a Sapling.

Hammered Festive Tree Planters will return 1 Board and 1 Manure when hammered, also returning the seed that was planted, if there was a Sapling in the planter.

Once a seed is planted in the Festive Tree Planter it will begin growing, having four stages of growth.

Unlike regular Trees, Trees planted in the Festive Tree Planter will stop growing once their full grown and will remain in that stage forever.

Upon reaching full growth, the Winter’s Feast Tree can be decorated with a maximum of 8 Winter Ornaments or Winter Foods, providing players with a similar interface to a Chest, Mushlight or Backpack.

Players will even be able to select where the Winter Ornaments or Winter Foods are placed as each slot is specific to a part of the tree.

If decorated with Festive Lights, the Winter’s Feast Tree will act as a light source for players.

Although Winter’s Feast Trees and Festive Tree Planters cannot be hammered once a Winter’s Feast Tree reaches it’s second stage, players will be able to chop down the tree using an Axe, providing the player with all the ornaments placed on the tree as well as the tree’s regular drops and oddly enough, also destroying the Festive Tree Planter and providing players with the resources.

GETTING GIFTS FROM THE WINTER’S FEAST TREE

There is a hidden easter egg where players can sleep using a Straw Roll (Cut Grass and 1 Rope), Fur Roll (2 Bunny Puffs and 1 Straw Roll), a Tent (6 Silk, 4 Sticks and 3 Ropes) or a Siesta Lean-to (4 Boards, 3 Ropes and 2 Silk) within a 2 Pitchfork radius from the Winter’s Feast Tree to receive a Gift.

Players are required to sleep in darkness with no lights, though players can sleep with a weak Thermal Stone nearby or near a Winter’s Feast Tree that has between 1-5 Festive Lights on it.

If players successfully sleep near a Winter’s Feast Tree and are about to receive a gift, they will begin hearing a soft chorus of bells ringing and upon waking up they will see the Gift beside the Winter’s Feast Tree.

Thought it may be tempting for players do sleep by a Winter’s Feast Tree daily, it should be noted that players will want to only sleep under the Winter’s Feast Tree every 4+ days in order to obtain the rarest loot possible.

The following are the loot pieces players can obtain from sleeping under the Winter’s Feast, though as a note players can also receive a random amount of Trinkets, Festive Baubles and Festive Lights from any gifts, though the chance is unknown.

It should be noted that Wickerbottom players will not be able to take advantage of this perk as Wickerbottom cannot sleep.

FESTIVE BAUBLES

Players will occasionally begin receiving Festive Baubles after killing various mobs in the Don’t Starve Together world, having a 0.5% chance to drop from any mob except Tentacles, Frogs, Reanimated Skeletons and Killer Bees.

Players will also receive Festive Baubles after killing Klaus and opening his Loot Stash and from fishing in the Oasis Lake during Summer.

There are a total of 20 Festive Baubles players can collect and decorate their Winter’s Feast Tree with.

There are 12 regular Festive Baubles and 8 Fancy Festive Baubles, the regular ones being standard circular baubles while the fancy ones vary in shape.

There are no requirements to use Festive Baubles on Winter’s Feast Trees, though I will say, some of them are mighty pretty on the tree.

Don't Starve Together: Forge Weapons Chest Wow

Festive Baubles can be stacked in stacks of 40.

MAGNIFICENT ADORNMENTS

Similar to the Festive Baubles, Magnificent Adornments are ornaments players can use on their Winter’s Feast Trees, though are designed to look like various boss monsters.

Starve

Best Weapon Don't Starve

The current Magnificent Adornments players can collect include:

Dragonfly

Toadstool

Klaus

Red Gem Deer

Blue Gem Deer

Malbatross

Although Magnificent Adornments act very similar to Festive Baubles, players may be much more interested in the Magnificent Adornments as they are more intricate and quite frankly, more noteworthy than the Festive Baubles.

CHAMPION ADORNMENTS

Although players are currently unable to obtain Champion Adornments, player were able to collect them during The Forge event when killing the following bosses:

Grand Forge Boarrior

Rhinocebros

Infernal Swineclops

APPEASING ADORNMENTS

Similarly, players were able to obtain the Appeasing Adornments during The Gorge event by killing the following bosses:

Mumsy

Billy

FESTIVE LIGHTS

One of the more interesting drops players will receive during the Winter’s Feast are Festive Lights, which come in the following colours:

Red

Green

Blue

Yellow

There are two different types of models of Festive Lights, one being the typical circular lights and the other being Festive Lights that look like the classic “Christmas Tree light” format.

Players are only able to collect Festive Lights after killing Klaus or the Deerclops, though players can also collect them by fishing in the Oasis Lake during Summer.

Festive Lights can be used as an alternative to Lightbulbs, being able to fuel Miner Hats, Hutch or Mushroom Lights and will last 160 days before they burn out.

I would strongly recommend using Festive Lights to decorate a Winter’s Feast Tree as they can be used to keep Charlie away during the night phase, while using a Festive Light for fuel will essentially deprive players of the insane lifespan of life they provide.

Players can also leave Festive Lights on the floor as they will still light the world.

On the same note, players will be able to change the tint of any Glowcaps, though Glowcaps will not twinkle as a Winter’s Feast Tree would.

GINGERBREAD PIGS

A newer addition to the Don’t Starve Together world is Gingerbread Pigs, which are small entities that will require players to chase them until they reach their Gingerbread Pig House.

Players will witness Gingerbread Pigs dropping Cookie Crumbles, acting similar to the way Suspicious Dirt Piles and leading players to between 3-5 Gingerbread Pig Houses.

Cookie Crumbles will spoil after 1 Day, leaving nothing behind, and can be eaten by players for the following stats:

0 Health

1 Hunger

0 Sanity

There is also a 20% chance players will be met with a Gingerbread Varg, acting even more similar to how Suspicious Dirt Piles work.

Players can alternatively kill a Gingerbread Pig if they wish to receive 3 Cookie Crumbles and 1 Holiday Cheer.

GINGERBREAD PIG HOUSES

As mentioned, players will be able to locate Gingerbread Pig Houses when they follow a Gingerbread Pig.

Gingerbread Pig Houses can either be hammered for 5 Cookie Crumbles and 1 Holiday Cheer or can be left alone if players would like to keep a memento from the Winter’s Feast event.

There are 4 different types of Gingerbread Pig Houses, though players will receive the same befits from all of them.

It should be noted that players cannot relocate a Gingerbread Pig House, meaning that if players would like a Gingerbread Pig House close-by, they will have to relocate their base.

GINGERBREAD VARG

The Gingerbread Varg is a great addition into the Don’t Starve Together realm, not only being an alternative skin to the Varg, but also receiving a special ability that allows the Gingerbread Varg to spit Glaze that immobilizes players caught in it.

As mentioned earlier, players have a 20% chance to spawn the Gingerbread Varg when following a Gingerbread Pig.

The Gingerbread Varg acts very similar to the Ewecus, the Glaze acting very similar to Ewecus Mucus.

Similar to the Ewecus Mucus, players can train a hoard of Pigs to help eat them out and set them free from the immobilization.

Upon being killed the Gingerbread Varg will drop 2-4 Cookkie Crumbles, 5-8 Holiday Cheer as well as 1-3 Hound’s Teeth.

WHAT IS HOLIDAY CHEER IN DON’T STARVE TOGETHER?

Holiday Cheer is a specific item to the Winter’s Feast event and are dropped by Gingerbread Pigs, Gingerbread Pig and Gingerbread Vargs.

Don't Starve Together

Oddly enough, players can also receive Holiday Cheer if a player dies shortly after eating from the Winter’s Feast Table, which I will cover shortly.

Holiday Cheer provides players no stats when eaten, but can be used for other recipes when using the Masonry Oven, which I will cover next.

The best thing about Holiday Cheer is the fact that they do not expire, allowing players to hoard this resource throughout the years and well beyond the Winter’s Feast event.

MASONRY OVEN & THE WINTER’S FEAST TABLE

The Masonry Oven provides players with a new crafting tab that allows them to craft new foods.

The Masonry Oven requires 1 Cut Stone, 1 Marble and 1 Log to craft and will always be available during the Winter’s Feast event, though players cannot build it any other time of year.

The following are all of the foods players can craft using the Masonry Oven, though it should be noted that these foods are only able to be used on a Winter’s Feast Table:

MERRY BERRYSAUCE

2 Mosquito Sacks

Players must craft a Winter’s Feast Table using 1 Board and 1 Beefalo Wool to place any of the above foods, allowing multiple players to stand by the Winter’s Feast Table and also allowing players to place multiple Winter’s Feast Tables in order to receive more benefits from the foods at a single time.

All of the above foods will provide players with the following stats:

0.5 Health per second

10 Sanity per minute

75 Hunger per day

Players can only consume foods on the Winter’s Feast Table for a maximum of 1 minute and the duration of the stats will depend on how long a player has feasted at the table, the number of dishes on the table, the number of tables connected, the variety of dishes on the Winter’s Feast Tables as well as the amount of players feasting at the same time.

Each unique food will add 72 seconds to the buff, when only a single player is standing by the Winter’s Feast Table, and up to 134 seconds when up to 8 players are at the tables./

If players choose to use duplicate dishes on their Winter’s Feast Table they will only receive an extra 48 seconds to the buff.

As mentioned earlier, if a player dies when they still have 25 seconds or more of the buff, they will drop Holiday Cheer.

CAN I PLAY THE WITH THE WINTER’S FEAST SETTINGS AFTER THE EVENT?

As is with most things Don’t Starve Together, players will still be able to play with the Winter’s Feast settings by enabling the event in their world creation menu.
